SHORTBREAD COOKIES 
3 sticks butter
1 c. confectioners' sugar
3 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. vanilla
Sugar for sprinkling

Cream butter and sugar. Sift flour and salt together and add to butter mixture. Add vanilla. Chill dough 4 to 6 hours. Roll dough between pieces of wax paper, always keep dough chilled when not rolling.

Cut with cookie cutters. Sprinkle generously with granulated sugar. Bake on ungreased cookie sheet at 325 degrees for 20 minutes.
