DATE PUDDING 
1 lb. dates
1 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 c. boiling water
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 tbsp. butter
2 eggs
1 1/2 c. flour
1 c. nuts (optional)
Cool Whip

Combine dates, soda and boiling water, let stand 5 minutes. Mix remaining ingredients in a bowl. Then add the two mixtures. Bake in a greased 9 x 13 inch pan at 350 degrees for 30 to 40 minutes. Do not over bake. When cool, bread into tiny pieces and fold in Cool Whip to taste.
