CRUNCHY TOFFEE IN THE MICROWAVE 
3/4 c. butter
1 1/4 c. granulated sugar
1 tsp. salt
1/4 c. water
1 c. unblanched almonds, slivered
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. chocolate chips

Combine butter, sugar, salt, water and almonds in a buttered 2 quart glass measure. Microwave, uncovered, on high 4 minutes. Stir well and microwave, uncovered, on high about 8 minutes or until candy is light brown (290 degrees). Add soda and pour onto cookie sheet.

Microwave chocolate chips in a 1 cup glass measure on high for 1 1/2 minutes or until soft. Stir and spread over candy. Cool at room temperature and break into pieces.

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.
