CARAMEL ICING 
3 c. sugar
Pinch of salt
1 c. half and half
1 tbsp. white Karo
4 tbsp. butter
1 tsp. vanilla

Mix 2 1/2 cups sugar, salt, half and half and Karo in a heavy saucepan; cook on medium heat. Heat 1/2 cup sugar in a skillet until brown and foamy. Add to first mixture.
