RED DEVIL'S FOOD CAKE | |
2 c. brown sugar 1 1/2 c. shortening 2 eggs 2 c. flour 1/2 c. sour milk (buttermilk) 1 c. boiling water 1/2 c. cocoa 2 tsp. baking soda Mix boiling water, cocoa and soda. Set aside. Cream shortening and sugar; add eggs and vanilla for flavor. Beat well. Add flour and sour milk (butter milk) alternately. Add water and cocoa last. Mix well. Bake at 375 degrees for 30 to 40 minutes. Best cut the next day. |
