2 c. flour
2 c. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
Pinch salt
6 heaping tbsp cocoa
1/3 c. shortening or butter
1 c. boiling water
2 eggs
1/2 c. buttermilk or sour milk
1 tsp. vanilla

Sift all dry ingredients well. Make a depression and add shortening and boiling water. Mix well. Add eggs, buttermilk and vanilla, and mix well. Bake in 9x13" pan at 350 degrees.
