RAISIN SPICE COOKIES 
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. brown sugar, packed
1/2 c. molasses
1/2 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. vinegar
2 1/2 c. Gold Medal flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
Raisins or cut up Citron

Heat oven to 400 degrees. Mix shortening, sugar, molasses, buttermilk and vinegar. Blend in remaining ingredients except raisins. Drop dough by rounded teaspoonfuls about 2 1/2 inches apart onto ungreased baking sheet. Press raisins on each cookie. Bake 10 to 12 minutes. Cool 1 minute before removing from baking sheet. Makes 4 dozen cookies.
