CHOCOLATE CHIP DATE-NUT LOAVES 
1 1/2 c. boiling water
1 c. chopped pitted dates
1 1/4 c. sugar
1 egg
1 tbsp. vegetable oil
2 tsp. vanilla
2 c. unsifted flour (all purpose)
2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. baking powder
1 c. chopped nuts
1 c. semi sweet chocolate mini chips

Pour the boiling water over dates in small mixing bowl; let stand 15 minutes. Beat sugar and egg in large mixer bowl three minutes on high speed. Blend in oil and vanilla. Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt; add alternately with dates to egg mixture, blending well. Stir in nuts and mini chips.

Divide batter equally among 4 well greased miniature loaf pans. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes at 350 degrees or until tester comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes, remove from pans.
