AUNT JANE'S STACKED SALAD | |
2 heads lettuce, cut in bite size 1 lg. or 2 sm. bunches green onions, chopped 1/2 bunch celery, chopped 1 can water chestnuts, sliced or chopped 1 (16 oz.) pkg. frozen peas, thawed 1 qt. mayonnaise (light or regular, not fat free) 1 tbsp. sugar 10 oz. grated sharp cheese Stack lettuce, onions, celery, chestnuts and peas in order. Ice with mayonnaise to cover and completely seal. Cover tightly with plastic wrap. Store in refrigerator 24 to 48 hours. When ready to serve, toss thoroughly with sugar and cheese. Serves 20 to 25. |
