JULIANNA'S SPLIT PEA BARS 
2/3 c. dry split peas
2 c. water
1 c. skim or low fat milk
1/4 c. oil
1 c. sugar
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. ground cloves
1 tbsp. cinnamon
2 eggs
1 c. raisins
1 c. chocolate chips
1/2 c. nuts

Combine split peas and water. Cook over very low heat to make a thick soup. Combine thick soup and milk. Combine oil, sugar and eggs, beat well.

Combine 2 cups of flour with all other dry ingredients. Add dry ingredients alternately with soup - blend to the oil, eggs, sugar. Beat well. Dredge raisins, nuts and chips in remaining 1/2 cup flour and stir into batter. Spread into greased jelly roll pan and bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Cut into squares while still warm.
