OATMEAL CAKE 
Cake:

1 c. white sugar
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. quick cook oats
1 stick butter
1 1/2 c. boiling water
1 3/4 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 egg
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. salt

Preheat oven to 350°F.

Pour boiling water over oats, white sugar, brown sugar and butter, and let stand until it cools.

Add remaining ingredients, and mix well.

Topping:

1 1/2 c. brown sugar, well packed
1/2 c. canned milk
4 tbsp. butter
1 c. coconut
1 c. nuts (optional)

Bring to a boil and cook 2 or 3 minutes. Remove from heat and add 1 c. coconut and 1 c. nuts.
