EGG NOG - PHILLIPS OLD FAMILY RECIPE | |
12 egg yolks 1 lb. powdered sugar 1 quart combination equal parts rum, brandy, bourbon 1 quart heavy whipping cream 2 quart half and half 6 egg whites nutmeg Separate yolks and beat until smooth. Blend in sugar, few ounces of the 1/2 and 1/2 then rum/brandy/bourbon followed by whipping cream and remainder of half and half. Add ingredients slowly and beat well to make smooth. In a separate container, whip egg whites until stiff then mix into batch. Serve cold, sprinkled with nutmeg. Recommended alcohol mixture: 1/3 quart each of Mount Gay Rum, any good straight bourbon, and Captain Applejack Apple Brandy (any brandy may be used, but avoid cheap flavored grain alcohol types.
