PRIZE WINNING POUND CAKE 
Our mother's prize winning pound cake.

1 cup (2 sticks) butter
2 cups granulated sugar
4 eggs
3 cups sifted cake flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1 cup milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. lemon juice

Preheat oven to 350°F.

Cream butter and add sugar gradually. Add eggs and beat until well blended. Sift together flour and remaining dry ingredients. Add milk alternately with flour mixture to creamed butter, sugar and eggs. Continue beating until mixture is creamy.

Add vanilla and lemon juice. Grease and flour 10-inch tube pan. Pour batter into pan.

Bake at 350°F for 1 hour.
