2 c. white sugar
2 tbsp. white Karo
1 stick butter
1 c. buttermilk with 1 tsp. baking soda in it
1 c. nuts, add while beating

Mix all ingredients except nuts in large boiler, add pinch of salt. Cook until it forms medium hard ball. Foams a lot. Add 1 teaspoon vanilla and nuts, beat well and place in buttered pan. this starts out white but gets caramel colored as it cooks.
