NELLIE'S EASY STRUDEL | |
2 c. all-purpose flour 1/2 c. butter 1/4 c. water 3 egg yolks 2 tbsp. vinegar Cut butter into flour as for pie crust. Add egg yolks, vinegar, and water; mix well. Cover and refrigerate overnight or at least 3 hours. Divide dough in 3 parts and work with 1 at a time. Roll out on floured cloth to fit 10 1/2 x 15 1/2 inch cookie sheet. Sprinkle each with 1 tablespoon sugar and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon. Arrange 3 peeled and diced apples along edge of long side; roll up guiding with cloth grasped in each hand. Place on ungreased pan and bake in moderate oven at 375 degrees for 45 minutes. Serve sprinkled with confectioners' sugar. Makes 3 strudels. Can use dates, nuts, apricots, poppy seed, prunes, or with apples as above. |
