SALLY'S BUTTERMILK POUND CAKE 
3 c. sugar
3 c. flour (Swans Down cake flour)
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla or other flavoring
1 c. butter
4 eggs
1 c. buttermilk

Cream butter and sugar. Beat eggs together in separate bowl and add a little at a time to sugar and butter mixture until blended. Just before adding milk, put soda into buttermilk and mix well. Alternate milk and flour into butter, sugar, egg mixture. Add vanilla.

Bake at 325°F in well greased and floured tube pan for 1 1/2 hours or until done when a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
