BUTTERMILK POUND CAKE I 
2 3/4 c. sugar
1 c. butter
4 lg. eggs
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 c. buttermilk
3 c. all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. lemon extract
1 tsp. vanilla extract
Nutmeg (optional)

Cream sugar and butter. Add eggs, one at a time, creaming after each addition until mixture is light in color. Dissolve soda in buttermilk, add alternately with flour to creamed mixture. Pour into a greased 10-inch tube pan. Sprinkle with nutmeg. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour and 15 minutes or until done.
