BUTTERMILK POUND CAKE 
4 eggs
1 c. butter
3 c. sugar
1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. baking soda dissolved in 1 tbsp. hot water
3 c. Softasilk cake flour
1/2 c. Crisco shortening
1 tbsp. lemon extract

Mix butter, Crisco and sugar until fluffy, add eggs one at a time and blend well. Stir in flour, add buttermilk, beat well until smooth, then add baking soda dissolved in tablespoon hot water, add lemon extract. Pour into a greased tube pan, bake 1 hour at 350 degrees. Cool and remove from pan.
