BUTTERMILK POUND CAKE | |
3 c. flour 3 c. sugar 1 c. shortening 1 c. buttermilk 1/2 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. baking soda 2 tsp. lemon or orange extract 6 eggs, separated Blend sugar and shortening. Add egg yolks - one at a time - and blend. Add flavoring. Sift dry ingredients together and add to first mixture. Beat egg whites until stiff and fold into mixture. Bake in a 10 inch tube pan greased and floured. Bake for 1 hour and 10 minutes in a 350 degree oven. |
