1 stick butter
3 c. flour
1 c. Crisco
1 c. buttermilk
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. vanilla
2 c. sugar
4 eggs
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. lemon

Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs one at a time beating after each. Sift flour, soda and baking powder and add to Crisco mixture alternately with milk, beating well. Add vanilla and lemon. Bake in 325 degree oven in tube pan for 1 hour and 15 minutes. Let cool in pan for 15 minutes before turning out.
