CHERRY WINKS 
2 2/3 c. corn flakes
2 1/4 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 c. butter
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 tbsp. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. chopped nuts
1/2 c. chopped cherries
15 cherries, cut into quarters
1 c. chopped dates (opt.)

1. Crush corn flakes; set aside. Stir together flour, baking powder, salt; set aside.

2. In large mixing bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy; add eggs. Beat well. Stir in milk and vanilla. Add flour mixture. Mix until well combined. Stir in nuts, cherries and dates, if used.

3. Portion dough, using teaspoon. Shape into balls. Roll in crushed corn flakes. Place about 2" apart on a greased baking sheet. Top each with a cherry quarter. A Christmas time, green cherries makes a pretty cookie, too.

4. Bake at 375 degrees about 10 minutes. Cool on wire rack. Yield: 5 dozen cookies.
