HOMEMADE BREAD | |
1 pkg. dry yeast 1 c. warm water 4 tsp. sugar 1 tsp. salt 2 tbsp. shortening (Crisco) 4 c. instant flour Melted butter Mix yeast with warm water and 3 tablespoons sugar. Let it sit for 1/2 hour until foam is formed. In another bowl mix salt, shortening, 1 tablespoon sugar and flour. Knead 10 minutes. Stir both mixtures together. Put into a greased bowl in the form of a ball and let rise for 2 hours. Flatten dough out on counter to the width of a 1 1/2 quart loaf pan and twice the length. Roll dough up and place in well greased pan so both sides of the dough are touching pan sides. Let rise 1 hour in warm spot. Brush top with butter and bake 45 minutes in preheated oven at 375 degrees. |
