MUD PIE 
Chocolate Fudge Sauce
Chocolate crumb crust
1 qt. ice cream
3 tbsp. confectioners' sugar
1 c. heavy cream, whipped
1 c. nuts, chopped

CHOCOLATE FUDGE SAUCE:

3 sq. (3 oz.) unsweetened chocolate
1/4 c. butter
2/3 c. sugar
1/8 tsp. salt
2/3 c. evaporated milk
1 tsp. vanilla

Melt chocolate and butter in top of a double boiler. Remove from heat and stir in sugar and salt until blended. Gradually add milk; blend well. Cook over boiling water stirring constantly until thickened (45 minutes). Remove from double boiler and add vanilla. Chill thoroughly.

CHOCOLATE CRUMB CRUST:

2 c. Oreo cookie crumbs (chocolate sandwich cookies with vanilla filling)
1/4 c. butter, softened

Crush cookies in blender. Blend in softened butter using pastry blender. Put into 10 inch pie pan. Press mixture into even layer. (Cover sides and bottom of pan. Freeze.

Prepare chocolate fudge sauce and chill. Prepare chocolate crumb crust and chill thoroughly in the freezer. Set out ice cream to soften slightly when you are ready to put pie together. Blend confectioners' sugar into whipped cream.

To assemble: Spoon softened ice cream into chilled pie shell. Spread sauce over ice cream and top with whipped cream and sprinkle with nuts. Freeze at least 5 hours or until firm. Wrap the pie if freezing longer. Allow pie to stand at room temperature for few minutes before cutting.

Chocolate cookie pie crust and good fudge sauce can be purchased.
