4 eggs
2 c. sugar
2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. vanilla, let vanilla pour a little off of teaspoon
1 c. milk
1 stick (1/4 lb.) butter

Beat eggs. Add sugar. Beat. Add flour sifted with baking powder. Beat. Add vanilla and hot milk (with butter melted in it). Beat. Put in 2 greased and floured 9 inch cake pans (or a bundt pan makes a nice cake). Bake 25 to 30 minutes in 350 degree oven for 9 inch pans. Bake 45 minutes in 350 degree oven for Bundt pan.
