GRANNY TAG'S FRUIT COCKTAIL CAKE 
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
1/2 c. salad oil
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
2 (scant) tsps. soda
1 (3 oz.) can fruit cocktail
1 can coconut

Beat sugar, eggs and oil. Add flour, salt and soda. Sprinkle top with 1/2 of coconut. Bake at 350 degrees until cake springs to touch.

FROSTING:

1 stick butter
1/2 c. evaporated milk
3/4 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. nuts

Boil ingredients for 1 minute. remove from heat and add 1 teaspoon vanilla, nuts and the other 1/2 can of the coconut. Spread over cake while hot. Put back under broiler and let icing bubble. Cool and eat.
