RED FLAMED STEW | |
1 can red beans (kidney) 1 can butter beans 1 lg. can crushed tomatoes 1 can peas, juice & all 1 med. can mushrooms, bits & pieces & juice 1/4 c. oil 1/2 bunch celery, diced 1 or 1 1/2 green peppers, diced 1 or 2 med. onions, diced 1 red hot pepper, canned type (optional) 1 1/2 lbs. ground beef Place oil in large kettle. Dice 1/2 bunch of celery, green peppers and onions. Saute until transparent. Add tomato and ground beef (do not brown meat). Add beans and simmer real slow, stir with wooden spoon occasionally. After 3/4 hours add mushrooms and hot pepper. Simmer a few minutes longer then add peas. All juice goes into stew. Simmer a few more minutes. Serve. |
