PEAR PRESERVES 
1 qt. pears, peeled, sliced and chopped
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 c. water
2-3 slices lemon

Cook pears until tender. Make syrup of sugar and water. Add fruit to syrup and bring to boil, then add lemon. Boil rapidly until fruit is clear and tender. Cool slightly and pour into hot sterilized jars to 1/2 inch of top and seal. Makes 3 pints.
