ANNA'S GROUND CHERRY PIE | |
3 c. ripe ground cherries 1 c. white sugar 1/2 c. brown sugar 2 tbsp. lemon juice 1/4 tsp. salt 1 tbsp. butter 1 c. water 3 tbsp. flour 2 tbsp. water Wash ground cherries. Mix cherries, sugar, salt, lemon juice, butter and water in a saucepan and cook over medium heat for approximately 5 minutes. Mix flour and water together to make a thin paste. Pour into cherries and stir until thickened. Remove from heat and cool. When cool, pour into an unbaked pie shell. Cover with top crust and seal edges. Bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes. Reduce heat to 350 degrees and continue to bake for 25 minutes. |
