CARAMEL - WALNUT BARS 
1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 c. butter, reg. butter
1 c. sugar
2 egg yolks
2 tbsp. milk
1 tsp. vanilla extract
2 egg whites
1 c. light brown sugar
1 c. chopped walnuts

Sift flour with baking powder. In medium bowl (mixer on medium speed), cream butter with sugar and egg yolks until light and fluffy. At low speed, beat in flour mixture, along with milk and vanilla. Spread evenly in 9 x 9 inch pan. Cook 20 minutes at 350 degrees. In small bowl, beat egg whites and gradually beat in brown sugar and nuts. Spread on top and bake 20 minutes longer. Makes 16 bars.
