FRUIT CAKE COOKIES 
1 1/2 c. raisins
1/4 c. bourbon
1 1/2 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 c. softened butter
2 eggs
1/4 lb. diced citron
1/2 lb. red candied cherries
2 c. pecan halves
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
1/2 c. light brown sugar, packed

Put raisins in bowl, add bourbon and mix well. Let stand 1 hour. Mix flour, baking soda, nutmeg, cinnamon, cloves. Cream butter, add sugar and eggs and beat until light and fluffy. Add flour mixture and mix until smooth, then add raisins and remaining ingredients and mix well. Cover and chill overnight. Shape in balls the size of walnuts and put on greased cookie sheets. Bake in preheated 325 degree oven for about 12 minutes. Makes 4 dozen.

I used dried cranberries with golden raisins, omitted cherries and substituted candied lemon for citron, which is easily "diced" by putting in small blender with the bourbon, then add to dried fruit. The nuts were chopped, then 1/3 very finely ground and added to the flour/spice mix. If I had more time, would have toasted the chopped nuts, cooled, then used.
