1 1/2 c. dates
1 1/2 c. boiling water
Chocolate cake mix

Cut up dates. Pour water over; set aside. Prepare cake mix according to directions on box, substituting the date mixture for the liquid. Turn batter into greased and floured 9 x 13 inch pan. Top with 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips and 1 cup chopped walnuts. Bake at 350 degrees 35 to 40 minutes.
