FRESH VEGETABLE SOUP 
2 potatoes (diced)
1 pt. butter beans
1 pt. tomatoes (diced)
1 pt. corn
1 slice salt pork

Put potatoes and beans and salt pork in kettle and cook for 1/2 hour. Then add tomatoes and corn. Season with salt and pepper and sugar to taste. Cook all together for another 1/2 hour, then thicken with 2 tbsp. flour.
