Put 1 tablespoon shortening in deep pan. Add a soup bowl heaped with diced onions. Saute on low heat. Mix 1 tablespoon flour with onion mixture. Sort of brown it. Add 1 tablespoon paprika. Stir in but don't brown. Then add cut-up chicken and 3 or 4 quarts of water and cook slowly until chicken is almost done. Add dumplings and cook half an hour longer. DUMPLINGS: Mix 3 eggs with enough flour and a little salt to make batter. Add to soup mixture. About 4 dumplings from each tablespoon mixture. |
