BROWN SUGAR POUND CAKE 
1 c. shortening
1 stick butter
1 lb. light brown sugar
5 eggs
3 c. plain flour, sifted
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 c. evaporated milk
1 tsp. maple flavoring
1 tsp. butter flavoring

Cream shortening, butter and brown sugar. Add eggs, one at a time. Beat well. Sift dry ingredients together and add alternately with evaporated milk. Add flavorings and blend well. Bake in a greased tube pan at 300 degrees for 1 hour and 20 minutes.

CARAMEL BUTTER FROSTING:

1/3 c. butter, melted
1 c. light brown sugar, firmly packed
2 c. confectioners' sugar
1/4 c. milk
1 tsp. butter flavoring

Mix all ingredients together and beat with mixer until spreading consistency. Spread over cooled cake.
