BLACK BEAN SOUP 
1 lb. black beans
3 c. water
1/4 lb. bacon, fried crisp and crumbled or 1/2 lb. smoked ham
2 med. onions, chopped
1 tsp. garlic salt
1/4 tsp. coarsely ground pepper

Combine all ingredients in crock pot. Stir well. Cover and cook on high setting for 4 to 6 hours. 8 servings, about 3 quarts.
