INDIAN FRIED BREAD
4 c. flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 handful nonfat dried milk

To this, add 2 tablespoons shortening and mix until consistency of cornmeal. Add very warm water, a little at a time, (kneading all the time) until it is bread dough. Cover dough and allow to set for 20 minutes.

Roll into balls about 2 1/2 to 3 inches in diameter. Roll out each ball until 8 inches in diameter. Fry in deep hot shortening in heavy skillet. Turn over until golden brown on both sides. Drain on paper towel. Serve with honey, beans or powdered sugar. Makes 8 to 10 pieces.
