CREAMED ONIONS 
4 or 5 lg. white onions, peeled
Salt and pepper
Butter
1/2 pt. light cream
1/2 pt. heavy cream
Italian bread crumbs

1. Slice enough onions in 1/2 inch slices to fill a medium-size greased casserole.

2. Layer onion slices in casserole.

3. Season with salt and dot generously with butter.

4. Pour heavy cream and light cream on top of onions, but do not cover.

5. Cover with generous layer of Italian bread crumbs. THIS CAN BE MADE A DAY AHEAD UP TO THIS POINT.

6. Bake slowly (place casserole on a foil covered baking sheet to avoid spattering oven).

Bake at 300 degrees from 2 1/2 to 3 hours.
