FRENCH BREAKFAST PUFFS 
1/3 c. soft shortening
1/2 c. sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 c. milk

TOPPING:

1/3 c. butter, melted
1/4 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease bottom of muffin cups. Mix shortening, 1/2 cup sugar and egg thoroughly in a large size mixing bowl. Sift together flour, baking powder, salt and nutmeg in medium size mixing bowl. Stir in alternately with milk. Fill muffin cup 2/3 full. Bake 20-25 minutes. Remove from pan and roll in melted butter, then in a mixture of sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg. Makes 12.
