ANGEL COOKIES 
1 c. lard or butter
1/2 c. white sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cream of tartar
2 c. flour
1 tsp. vanilla

Cream shortening and sugars. Add egg and mix well. Mix soda, cream of tartar and flour and add to first mixture along with the vanilla. Mix well. Drop by teaspoons onto ungreased cookie sheet and press down with fork (or form dough into balls about the size of a walnut). Dip in water, then in sugar. Bake at 400 degrees for 8-10 minutes.
