PEANUT BUTTER BALLS
24 oz. bag of Nestle Semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 bar paraffin wax
2 cups peanut butter
4 cups powdered sugar
1 stick butter
Double broiler (I use small pan of water underneath a larger pan)
Wax paper

Let butter soften Mix together peanut butter, sugar and butter.

Then roll into preferred size balls and set in freezer allow at least 2 hours to freeze or until hardened.

Fill bottom pan with 2 inches of water and melt chocolate and wax in top pan. (I find it easier to grade the wax or chop it into smaller pieces before hand.)

Remove a few balls at a time so they don't get too soft and dip in chocolate. Then place on wax paper and allow at least 15 minutes before removing from paper. I suggest refrigerating them before serving but to each is own. :) Enjoy and Comments are appreciated!

*May need to adjust peanut butter and butter mixture to get the right consistency to form into balls.

Eons ago I also made peanut butter balls this way, however it is much faster to use chocolate bark which melts in the microwave and if it starts to thicken on you merely zap it again for about 15 seconds. There is also white chocolate bark for variation. Try it, please!

If you add 3 c of crushed rice krispies to this recipe it will be the official Buckeye recipe from Ohio. Have been making thses 55 years for kids/grandkids/great geandkids.

I know that everyone says to use a double boiler to melt the chocolate and wax, but, I've found that a crock pot works just as well and you don't have to watch it as closely.

I have been looking for just this recipe for quite awhile, thank you so much. The only way to make them is the old way. Thank you!

Exceptional recipe. I formed the dough into a larger log and cut it into 4 equal parts. I then rolled each part into a 1-inch log. Cut each log into 1-inch pieces. Two rolls in the hand to form a ball. Making the balls went faster.
