APPLE CRISP 
1 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
3/4 c. quick cooking oats
1 tsp. salt
1 c. packed brown sugar

Sift ingredients together. Cut in 1/2 cup shortening until particles are the size of a small pea. Press 1/2 mixture on bottom of ungreased 12x8 baking dish. Spread 1 can fruit pie filling on top. Cover with remaining mixture; press lightly with spoon. Bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes.
