CARAMEL POUND CAKE 
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. milk
2 c. sugar
2 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. butter flavoring
3 c. plain flour
3 sticks butter
1/2 tsp. baking powder
5 eggs
1 box light brown sugar
1/2 c. evaporated milk
1 c. pecans, chopped

Cream 1 cup sugar, 2 sticks butter and shortening. Add eggs one at a time. Add baking powder to flour. Alternate adding flour and milk to mixture. Add 1 teaspoon vanilla and butter flavoring. Pour in to large greased and lightly floured tube pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour 15 minutes.

FROSTING: Mix 1 cup light brown sugar, 1/2 cup evaporated milk, 1 teaspoon vanilla, 1 cup sugar, 1 stick butter and chopped pecans and bring to rolling boil. Boil 1 minute, spread on cake.
