Just made it today - threw it in the crock pot and went to the bar for a few, came home and the house smelled like heaven. Made homemade mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus with it - the gravy is fantastic and the roast just peeled off with a fork, YUM! Thanks!

I have a question... I am ready to make this, but was wondering if it would be advised to sear the meat before putting it in the crock-pot?

Absolutely wonderful! Wound up more like a beef stew or pot roast than a steak in the end, but wonderful just the same. We swapped the italian dressing mix for an onion soup packet, changed the water to chicken stock, and added chopped sun-dried tomatoes at the end of the cooking to make it a bit more robust. Everyone loved it! Thanks for the great recipe!

As like everyone, was skeptical...I tend to reference the site for ideas. It was good, but amazing...no...I used a 5 lb tri tip. Substituted beef broth vs water. Cooked 3.5 hrs on low, 3.5 on high. I think I'm more excited about leftovers, having a cold sandwich loaded w/mayo for lunch tomorrow. If I make the dish again, I would use red wine vs water and add some beef base also.

Am glad everyone is enjoying this recipe. I have several others that I think are tops - but my "next" favorite recipe is Old School Apple Crisp. It is amazing...

Oh my stars. Had a hungry herd to feed so I doubled the amounts, cut the 2 London boils lengthwise so they'd be submerged in the gravy and cooked for 8 hours. Phyllis.. you're a genius!! Perfect roast... almost no leftovers. :( The gravy was divine. You got any other recipes?

Gravy is very good, definitely got a different taste. Just be careful with your cook times.. London Broil is thick cut Top Round and a very lean cut. 5hrs on low and mine overlooked a bit.. nothing that good gravy can't fix!!

This recipe is awesome. Instead of using the water, I used a bottle of beer. My family loved the gravy over rice and then again on potatoes!

I made this yesterday, and I was the best tasting roast that I have ever made. After mixing the ingredients and cooking in Crock-Pot for about 8 hours or until tender, I strained the juices and added another pack of gravy mix and water. Then used a little cornstarch to thicken and poured over mashed potatoes and meat. I was very good.

Was alright. Was trying to get away from the typical pot roast taste. This didn't help me to suceed.

I know this is changing the recipe, but I didn't have any of the dried mixes, so I used 3/4 cup bottled italian dressing and 3/4 cup bottled ranch dressing. I cooked the meat for several hours and then lifted up the meat and added cut up red and sweet potatoes to cook under the meat. It was wonderful - the meat was tender and the gravy was flavorful without being too salty.

This recipe was amazing. I was skeptical at first since I'm accustomed to using many ingredients in my recipes. It seemed just way too easy. As others have commented the gravy it makes is amazing. The London broil was so soft we didn't need a knife. It also had amazing flavor. I think the people who may have commented that it had no flavor went a little overboard with the water. The recipe calls for 1 1/2 cups of water only so if you overdo the water it will water down the recipe and compromise flavor. DELICIOUS. Definitely try this.

Amazing! followed directions. I used a 2 lb. London broil for 8 hours on low; didn't even need a knife to cut the meat.

In the crockpot now! Can't wait! I didn't have brown gravy or Italian packet, so I used turkey gravy, beef bouillon cube, 1/3 cup Italian dressing, 1 1/4 cup water, and the ranch packet.. Hoping it will come out just as tasty! Will post another review after we try it :)
