BRAISED CABBAGE | |
4 tbsp. butter 1 tbsp. sugar 1/3 c. white vinegar 1 tsp. salt 1/3 c. water Dash of pepper 1/4 c. red currant jelly 2 tbsp. minced apple, may use more 1 head cabbage, chopped (2 lb. or more) Mix cabbage and first column of ingredients. Bring to a boil twice in electric frying pan. Cover, lower heat and braise for 2 hours. Add jelly and apple, cook for 10 minutes. Off heat and let "set" for a few minutes. Serve. (This is good cold or reheated.) Serves 4-6. |
