MERIEDITH'S SNICKERDOODLES | |
1 c. soft shortening 1 1/2 c. sugar 2 eggs 2 3/4 c. sifted flour 2 tsp. cream of tartar 1 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. salt 2 tbsp. sugar 2 tsp. cinnamon Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs. Mix well. Sift together the flour, cream of tartar, soda and salt. Add to creamed mixture. Chill dough. Then roll into balls the size of walnuts. Roll in sugar and cinnamon mix. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake until lightly brown, but still soft, 8 to 10 minutes at 400 degrees. These cookies puff up at first, then flatten out with crinkled tops. This dough can also be used for drop cookies. After mixing, drop by teaspoonfuls on ungreased cookie sheet and bake. Very good with icing. |
