CRANBERRY BREAD | |
2 tbsp. shortening 2 c. flour 1 c. sugar 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. salt 2 tsp. grated orange peel Juice from 1 orange or 3/4 c. orange juice 1 1/2 c. shredded Cheddar cheese 1 egg 1 c. cranberries, halved 1/2 c. chopped walnuts Cut shortening into flour, sugar, powder, salt and orange peel. Add water to juice to measure 3/4 cups. Blend with cheese and egg. Fold in cranberries and nuts. Bake in a greased 9x5x3 inch loaf pan for 60 to 70 minutes at 350 degrees. Let stand 8 hours before slicing. |
