GRANDMA CORA MARSHALL'S DUMPLINGS | |
1 chicken, cooked & deboned (save broth) 3 c. flour 1 tsp. baking powder per c. flour 1 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. baking soda 1 c. buttermilk 1 tbsp. shortening While chicken is cooking mix together the flour, baking powder, salt and soda. Work in the 1 tablespoon shortening. Add the buttermilk if too dry add a little more. It should be a stiff dough. Roll thin and cut into strips. Drop in boiling chicken broth. Boil about 10 minutes. Put lid on and simmer 15 minutes. Add deboned chicken and serve. |
