BACHELOR'S BUTTONS 
3/4 c. shortening
1 c. brown sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp. vanilla
2 c. flour, sifted
1/2 c. candied cherries, cut fine
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. coconut
1/2 c. Brazil nuts, chopped fine

Cream shortening and sugar thoroughly. Add egg and vanilla. Mix well. Sift together dry ingredients. Add to creamed mixture. Stir in coconut, nuts and cherries. Chill. Drop by teaspoon on lightly greased baking sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 8-10 minutes.
