CHERRY SHEET CAKE 
2 sticks butter, room temperature
3 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. all-purpose flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. sugar
Approximately additional cup flour
2 cans sweet cherries

Cream butter with sugar. Beat eggs one at a time with sugar mixture. In separate bowl, sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt. Add to above mixture, then add one or more cups flour and mix well to make good spreading consistency.

Take 2/3 of this mixture and spread evenly on ungreased cookie sheet. Cover with cherry filling. Take rest of dough (a spoon at a time) and roll into strips. Add flour if sticky. Arrange strips on cake in criss-cross pattern. Bake for 35 minutes in 350 degree oven.
