This was amazing. I used 1/2 can of Coke instead. My daughters loved this recipe. I will be making this real soon.

I did this recipe using just a little bit of Henry Weinhard's Root Beer-with the tastes of sassafras, vanilla and honey mixing with the honey BBQ sauce I used, it was wonderful! Next time, I'm going to use some Vernor's Ginger Soda-give it a little ginger kick!!

I love simple recipes. This recipe was easy and simple. I used chicken wings and let them cook while I sleep. I just ate them for lunch and it was delicious! The meat was falling off the bone! I will definitely use this recipe again. Thanks!

This recipe is always a hit. I also make it the same and bake it in the oven in my speckled roaster. The gravy is a good consitency to serve over rice. the family loves it and no-one believes it has coke in it. You may use Pepsi if you prefer but the coke is stronger.I use a whole cut-up chicken or leg quarters also.

While there are no instructions on cook time or amount of chicken to be used in this recipe, I adapted my own version.
I used:

1/2 a bottle of Bullseye Chicken & Rib bbq sauce
1/2 a bottle of Famous Dave's sweet & spicy
1/2 a cup of sweet and sour sauce
1 can of diet coke

I added 4 good sized boneless, skinless chicken breasts and cooked them in the mixture in the oven for 1 hour. Very delicious, my picky as heck husband devoured it and went back for 2nds. However, I had far to much sauce left over, even after putting it on 4 servings of rice. I would cut this recipe in half for sure next time.

I have made the BBQ Chicken with Diet Coke. I also make a ham with Diet Coke poured over the ham. Then I use Splenda Brown Sugar on top. Both are great.

I thought that Diet Coke wouldn't work because when you cook with some artificial sweeteners it gets a bitter taste. Glad to hear it worked!

I've made this before and love it! I use 2-3 pounds frozen, boneless, skinless breasts and let it cook 8 hours on low. Then I use 2 forks to pull the chicken apart (so easy to do at this point as it is so soft) and let it cook another 30-60 minutes on low to get the sauce through the whole thing. If it happens to be too runny I leave the lid off and it will thicken during that last cook period.

I used 4 boneless/skinless chicken breasts, one bottle of Safeway brand sauce, and half a can of Pepsi (I just had all of these in my house already). I cooked on low for 5 hours, shredded the chicken then put it back in the sauce and cooked on low for another 45 minutes. Chicken came out juicy and tender, not dry at all. I agree that this recipe makes a lot of sauce, but I think the fact that the sauce completely covered the chicken is the reason it didn't dry out. In my experience, crock pots tend to dry out the portion of lean meats that are not submerged in the cooking liquid. I did find the sauce to be a little bland, but I think that the key to this recipe is starting with a quality/flavorful BBQ sauce. I would try this recipe again, especially since it is so easy for hot summer days. But next time I will use 5 or 6 chicken breasts, a better BBQ sauce, and Coke instead of Pepsi.

I am trying this now for dinner tonight. However, I have a bunch to feed, so I doubled the recipe. I used 2 bottles of sweet baby rays bbq sauce,.20 ounces of coke, a family size package of chicken thighs and a family size package of chicken legs. It sounded delicious so I have to try it. :)

Would you suggest this recipe for wings as well? Should I reduce cook time since it is such a smaller piece of meat?

My house smells soooooo good. The chicken is already tender and juicy. BBQ pulled chicken sliders for the Steelers game!

This is a great, quick and easy dinner. I added some sweet peppers and sweet onions and put a BBQ seasoning on the chicken and made my own sauce. Made some rice and beans corn and corn bread big hit!!

This is very similar to a "cola chicken" recipe that my family loves. I look forward to trying it in the crockpot!

I am trying this out now. The BBQ sauce I had on hand was Chipotle Key Lime BBQ flavored, so I switched out the coke for a small can of pineapple juice. I've done the same for a teriyaki style chicken and the sweetness of the pineapple juice is very good. If all goes well, I'll shred in about 7 hours to make pulled chicken sliders. Side of flavored rice and a veggie - yum!

Good stuff!
You could use any type chichen, but my family prefers breast. It may cost a bit more, but we like it. And I agree directions are pretty clear. Coke is a great addition, and choice of barbeque sauce is personal preference. I used Big Moe's, a NC favorite! Can serve whole pieces of chicken or shred for sandwiches, either is yummy!
